Sandra Hendy

Sandra Hendy’s watercolour and mixed media collages are teeming with character and humanity. From the outback of the Australian desert to Shanghai’s bursting skyscrapers, her unique landscapes are assembled from miniature appropriated details which delight and engage. Translating the landscape into pattern and texture, her works are built up layer upon layer like the outback shacks and cities themselves, interwoven with different materials and narrative.

Working from her studio in the South Coast Sandra travels widely to inform her creative production. Her most recent body of work draws on the rich cultural diversity of China.

Recently she has exhibited in Shanghai and received an award for excellence at the Watercolourists at Shenzhen exhibition. In 2014 her work was purchased by the Qingdao Permanent Collection.
