Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890) A Dutch post-impressionist painter and one of the most famous and influential figures in Western art. His paintings in oils and his drawings include portraits, self-portraits, still lifes and landscapes. Vincent struggled throughout his short life of 37 years with his mental health and poverty but his brother Theo supported him and his career until Vincent died. Theo sadly died six-months after Vincent but thanks to Theo’s wife Jo van Gogh-Bonhger, who lived until 1925, Vincent’s work was preserved and promoted.
