About the Class
Discover and refine your life drawing skills with artist and teacher Leigh D Walker in a relaxed and encouraging environment.
Firmly believing that drawing is the basis for all artistic practice, Leigh is a passionate advocate of teaching solid foundational and creative skills.
Each week we will work from the model to develop personal technique and understanding of how to draw the nude while looking at how the human form has been depicted in art. The classes are relaxed and fun as well as instructive with plenty of room for individual artistic expression.
We will explore a variety of drawing techniques, skills and materials in this 8-week course to introduce students to different ways of seeing, thinking and drawing.
There will be plenty of one-on-one tuition and all levels of experience are welcome.
About the artist & teacher Leigh D Walker
Leigh D Walker is an artist, living and working in the Canberra region. She specialises in drawing and painting.
Born in South-West Scotland, she studied for her Honours Degree (Drawing & Painting) and her Master of Fine Arts at Edinburgh College of Art/Edinburgh University.
Being the recipient of numerous awards, Leigh has shown in venues such as The Royal Scottish Academy, The National Portrait Gallery, London and The Scottish Gallery. Her work is held in public and private collections throughout the UK and Australia.
Her paintings have been featured in The BP Portrait Award Calendar, The Financial Times (UK), The Mail on Sunday and Livewire Magazine.
Leigh runs regular art classes and workshops throughout the Canberra region.
